3 Copywriting Tips for Doula Websites
It’s no lie when I say that this just might be the most feared part of running your own business.
I mean, I think it might not be as intimidating as showing up on camera, especially live 😝! Because when you write something that’s prepared and thought out, you can’t have regrets. People will read it and know that this was written on purpose, with thought. But when you show up live, or make a fun little video, you can make mistakes, and it only makes you look more real and relatable. But your content should be kept a little more professional, or at least more intentional.
You should be using words with intention, and of course, put your personality into it, always. I’m not saying that you can’t make “mistakes.” I’m saying you should make mistakes on purpose, which is all part of the larger plan.
See, when I write, I let it flow, like a conversation. That is my business personality, and it will attract those who dig it. Maybe some would prefer a more serious approach, and that’s ok because you can’t please everyone. You need to find your business personality and make sure it aligns with you. This way you’ll enjoy writing and in turn, do it more!
So let’s go over 3 Copywriting Tips that will speed up your writing game!
Write more and at your best time of the day: This is the best piece of advice that I could give you! Just write more. Find the time of day that you feel most creative and aligned, and just start writing. For me, I wake up with a million ideas in my head and I could write for hours. But come 12:30-1, I draw blanks. I can’t seem to focus as well and I’m just not that interested. So I keep mornings open for creative work and writing, and my afternoons for more admin related tasks. Practice writing one article per day, even if you don’t publish it. You’ll get better, faster, and more intentional.
Write like you talk: Your content does not need to sound like a scholarly article, you are not being graded by a teacher. The soul intent behind writing for your business is to help your business connect with those who need it. It’s ok to swear, it’s ok to use slang, it’s ok to make intentional errors, IF it helps to connect you with them. With all the competition for people’s attention these days, you need to stand out. No more boring writing, okay? Write like you mean it!
Write for them: I know what you guys are searching on the web. Do you know how I find out that top secret information? I search popular keywords on Ubersuggest. I simply ask it to give me popular search terms on certain subjects. I could say “Doula websites,” and it will tell me what people are searching that are similar to those words. Then I make each article with those keywords so I can show up for you when you need me. But, there’s a catch! You should be doing this often, but you should also be creating content for those who have already found you. If all your articles are full of keywords and sound repetitive, than it’s just not full content. So write for your followers, write for those who don’t know you yet, and write for you!
Hopefully, this gave you a little relief in knowing that there is room for error and that you can be yourself! There’s loads of wriggle room, and you’ll only get better!
